How can I learn to do Reiki?
Reiki level one is traditionally taught in 8 hours. This can be done in 2 days with 4 hour sessions or in 4 days with 2 hour sessions. In Level One you learn how to treat yourself and others using a series of hand positions. The hands are placed on different areas of the body with a gentle touch. Reiki Level 2 is done at any point following the First Degree. Second degree Reiki is also called the absentee method as it is used for distance healing. The course happens over a 2 day period and takes approximately 4 hours. It is recommended that you research who your Reiki Master's lineage is so you can make the best decision possible about your Reiki journey.
A traditional lineage of Reiki directly through Hawayo Takata

Wanja and I in Krakow Poland
at a Reiki Conference in 2009.
I had the great honour of receiving my First Degree in 1994 from my dear Reiki Master and mother-in-law Wanja Twan. Wanja learned Reiki in 1978-79 from Hawayo Takata here in British Columbia. This form of Reiki is a traditional lineage that follows Takata's teachings. I have been a Reiki Master since 1997 and have done Reiki in Pemberton for the past 15 years and many different countries including Poland, Sweden and Ireland when travelling with Wanja.
How much does Reiki cost?
Reiki costs vary depending on the Reiki Master. In this traditional traditional lineage the First degree costs $300. The Second degree is $700. The Reiki Master you study with determines the lineage that you belong to as a Reiki practitioner. Reiki treatments are $50 a session on a sliding scale. Reiki treatments for pets is by donation.
